EUSFLAT Student Grants Program

EUSFLAT is reshaping its student support into an attractive and transparent Student Grants Program. At each EUSFLAT conference (odd years) 10 Student Grants will be awarded. Other selected events (summer schools, etc.) organised by EUSFLAT may offer Student Grants as well. In intermediate years (even years) two selected events will award 5 Student Grants each. Each student can receive at most two Student Grants in his/her career. Terms and conditions are explained below.

The biannual EUSFLAT conference

At each EUSFLAT conference (2005, 2007, etc.) 10 Student Grants will be awarded. A Student Grant holder is exempted from paying the student registration fee. Depending upon local availability, low-cost student accommodation might be provided as well.

Eligibility criteria are:

  • The candidate must be co-author and presenter of an accepted paper. Application for a student grant can only be done at the time of submitting, as will be clearly indicated in the call for papers. In case of multiple student authors, only one can apply for a grant.
  • The candidate must be EUSFLAT student member (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) at the time of application.
  • The candidate has not received two student grants before.

The Student Grant responsible on the EUSFLAT board makes an autonomous selection among the candidates. Additional criteria will be: referee reports on the paper, time since previous grant, fair distribution among institutes and countries, EUSFLAT membership of supervisor(s), etc. No communication on this matter is possible. The EUSFLAT web page will keep a record of past grant holders in order to guarantee transparency. The grant holders will be announced prior to the early registration deadline.

Intermediate years

In intermediate years (2006, 2008, etc.) 10 Student Grants will be awarded divided evenly over two events (conference, summer school, etc). A Student Grant holder is exempted from paying the student registration fee. Depending upon local availability, low-cost student accommodation might be provided as well. The eligibility criteria and choice procedure are the same as above.

Other events organised by EUSFLAT

At any time, the EUSFLAT board may decide to offer additional Student Grants at other events it organizes, such as summer schools, working group meetings, etc.

Guidelines for conference organisers: How can I offer EUSFLAT Student Grants at my conference?

Interested conference organisers should contact the EUSFLAT president before the end of May prior to the EUSFLAT conference (in the year before the planned event). The EUSFLAT board will make an autonomous selection among the candidate conferences. Criteria involved will be: size of the conference, fair distribution among countries, time since previous successful application, etc. No communication on this matter is possible. Two events will be selected by the end of June and will be advertised at the following EUSFLAT conference as well as on the EUSFLAT website.

Conditions:

  • Selected conference organizers are expected to incorporate the necessary information in their call for papers or to update this call for papers.
  • Selected conference organizers should clearly announce and strictly apply a reduced registration fee (reduction by at least €40) for all EUSFLAT members.
  • Selected conference organizers will collect all applications at the time of submitting the papers and forward them to the Student Grant responsible on the EUSFLAT board.
